Harry Keil, 51, of St. Charles, a former benefits manager for a St. Louis-area International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers pension and health and welfare funds.
On 29th October 2009, Thursday ,he was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison Thursday for embezzling $341,000 from the union’s benefit plan as he created false invoices to steal the money and used company money for personal useage, prosecutors said.
The funds have already been repaid through insurance, but Keil was ordered to repay that money.
His lawyer argued during hearing that Keil should get a lower sentence because he suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Keil told a psychiatrist that the embezzlement supported Keil’s “compulsive buying and bidding” on online shopping sites like eBay, Proxibid and GunBroker.com.
